Living with a newborn can sometimes be like living as an amputee. I've had to learn to do the following skills one-armed:
- brushing my teeth (as well as spitting over the baby's head)
- eating
- reading a book
- washing and sterilizing a bottle (this is especially impressive as he's usually hungry and squiggling)
- picking up dropped pacifiers
- coloring with a two-year-old
- chasing a two-year-old who is running with a sharp object
- wrestling away a diaper from a dog
- cleaning out the dishwasher
- blogging
Things that require me to put him down:
- using the restroom
- drinking my favorite, hot, elixir of life
- cooking at the stove or oven
- driving :)
Things that my parents will say after reading this blog:
- "You are spoiling that child - put him down!"
- "You are probably making his body sore from holding him too much - put him down!"
- "He needs more tummy time - put him down!"
- "You are creating a mama's boy - hand him to me!"

Oh good grief. A 4 week old doesn't need tummy time.
:o) He's beautiful!
My parents don't actually use the term 'tummy time.' They just want me to put him down so they can pick him up.
Ha ha! A one-armed, sleep deprived Dori, sounds like entertainment to me.
You got us on the "put him down." And we said it at the first "brushing my teeth" entry. I was reading it out loud to Dad and his comment was, "I don't understand why she can't put him down for that!" So we are dutifully humblized.
You did it with your 1st, 2nd and 3rd child, so I guess the 4th will turn out great also. We've had several great years of saying, "Put him down."
I don't get the mama's boy part though, unless you've grown whiskers.
